Standing the test of time, this remarkable building was literally made for events—in the 1880s! George Washington needed a place to host grand functions and commemorate those who fought valiantly in the Civil War. After the war, with 890,000 filed pension claims, the building also housed the Pension Bureau. From splendid Inaugural Balls to daily office work, the National Building Museum offered a comfortable space for all. The architect, General Montgomery C. Meigs, created it to be beautiful, bright, airy, and functional—features we still look for in an event hall today. Standing the Test of TimeDesigned and built by a masterful architect, the National Building Museum displays smooth bricks adorned with terracotta ornaments on the exterior. 234 busts, and 72 columns make it eye-catching from blocks away (only 4 blocks from the National Mall). No wonder it currently serves as a museum of architecture and the built world! That being said, the building can host just about any event of any size—concerts, dinners, cocktail receptions, and more! You’d have to see the Great Hall to believe it. Huge columns, tiled floors, and gold details make it fit for royalty. It accommodates up to 2,000 guests! Of course, the space has complete technology and audiovisual capabilities as well as an onsite kitchen. The regal Pension Commissioners Suite serves as the perfect place for an intimate formal dinner, and the auditorium is ideal for hosting speakers. The Willis Library and exclusive Corinthian Lounge are perfect for small meetings and get-togethers during the week. The National Building Museum really does have it all when it comes to events. Event Photojournalism by Rodney Bailey would love to help you document the splendor of it all, as well as the smaller details that make it truly unforgettable!
The post The National Building Museum | Washington DC Event Professional Photography appeared first on Event Photojournalism. via Blog – Event Photojournalism https://eventphotojournalism.com/the-national-building-museum/ Here’s our next event feature! Consider the National Air and Space Museum for an out-of-this-world event venue. Despite the fact that it is one of the renown Smithsonian museums (the 4th most visited in the world!), this mission is easier than you might think to pull off. The museum offers reserved experiences for corporate and association events. For larger events, such a reception or formal dinner, you can ask to reserve the entire facility. But if you’re looking for something specific, both the main museum and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center are spectacular facilities with amazing displays and collections. Inside the National Air and Space Museum, you’ll find the Space Race exhibit, Boeing Flight Hall, America by Air exhibit, and Barron Hilton Gallery. An Out-of-this-World Event VenueInside the Udvar-Hazy Center, you’ll find even more to explore. For instance, the Boeing Aviation Hangar and James S. McDonnell Space Hangar have quite a bit of space since they are home to different types of air and space craft. The hangars accommodate 1,200 seated guests or up to 5,000 standing guests! For something a little more tech friendly for a corporate meeting, you could utilize the Executive Board Room that accommodates between 120-200 guests. During breaks between meetings, members can check out the space exploration exhibits—a little more interesting than the same, mundane trip to the water fountain and back. The Donald D. Engen Tower also offers a unique and unforgettable experience for small groups of up to 75—the observation tower provides a 360-degree sky-high view of Dulles International Airport! The lighting in this museum is incredible, so we always enjoy documenting events at this venue. We’d love to be there for yours, too!
