When it comes to picking a theme for the event of the year, you want to pick something with the “wow” factor – something that is bold, colorful, and interactive. You don’t necessarily have to spend hours brainstorming over an abstract theme that has never been done before. You can just as easily pick a fun, familiar theme and incorporate your own unique twist. The greatest surprise of them all? The Back to the Future car – complete with lifting doors, a hoverboard, and other movie paraphernalia. Dr. Emmett Brown was there to greet guests and take photos, and we fully expected Marty McFly to pop out at any minute! That’s exactly what these event planners did when it came to designing an incredible decade-themed event. With everything from big bands to vinyls to 8-tracks, this Decades Event took guests from the 1920s to the 80s instantly. The magic was all in the details. The décor was outstanding. To say we enjoyed photographing it all is an understatement. The modular furniture, neon lights, 3-D cotton candy wall, and 70s-style wall paper completely transformed the space into an endless colorful backdrop full of surprises. There’s only one place perfect enough to host such a great party: The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, of course! Located in National Harbor, the Gaylord has the perfect atmosphere to host a lively event. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and entertainment to enjoy around the area as well. Or, just stay at the resort and enjoy all of the amenities as well as the famous 19-story glass atrium that overlooks the Potomac River. The band provided the perfect entertainment, and they did a terrific job of staying in character. Their expressions, movements, and voices were completely on point! When you host an event as spectacular as this one, you can’t forget the photos! Can you imagine a world without buildings? That might be the most random question you’ve heard all day, but think about it: buildings showcase stunning architecture, portray rich cultural history, and bring people together in unique ways. When you combine all of those things, you have the perfect place to host an event – especially if that event supports a good cause. Now, imagine hundreds of people from different industries and different backgrounds all coming together under one roof to support an amazing charity. Recently, we had the great pleasure of photographing the No Kid Hungry Taste of the Nation event at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. While the venue and the organization may seem unrelated, we find it perfectly symbolic! We watched – and photographed – as people joined together to raise over $300,000 in an effort to end child hunger in the United States. Taste of the Nation was sponsored by Citi Bank, Sysco, The Food Network, OpenTable,Whole Foods, and numerous other local sponsors as well as over 75 local restaurants who put on an incredible event. While people enjoyed wonderful food and great conversation, no one forgot the cause at hand: raising awareness and funds for children who have been going without. We were blown away by the generosity guests showed through their participation in No Kid Hungry, and it was truly an honor to use our own talents to highlight the organization and the event through photography. Make sure to check out their page and maybe even get your own business or company on board with this organization’s awesome event! Have an event of your own coming up? We’d love to be there to help you capture every moment of it so you can relax and enjoy with your guests. Use the photos for marketing, social media, website images, or just to share with friends. It will even help free up time you might have spent creating content. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right? Visit www.eventphotojournalism.com to learn more. One such way is to inspire employees by an incentive program. Instead of Mondays seeming like the first day in another long-haul of a week, they can be seen as the beginning of a full and productive week to work towards their incentive goal. I recently was able to photograph an incentive for Five Guys at The Anthem District Wharf in DC. The event was planned by CSI, and it was a total success! Five Guys hosted a night deemed as the Five Guys Games, in which one lucky crew member would have the chance to win $50,000 by showing off their skills! Not only was this a special night for these contestants but also for coworkers and management by being able to cheer on their co-worker! The Anthem was a perfect venue to host so many wonderful employees of Five Guys! The concert style seating enabled everyone to have a good view of the festivities. Reasons for Incentive Program Photography:
2. Professional Photography=Professional Feel: Having professional photography adds an air of professionalism to your event. When employees are selected for the incentive trip, that is the result of a lot of dedicated and motivated work. What better way to show your employees that your appreciate their service than to show your dedication to making this a night worth all their hard work. 3. Incentives on Incentives: Having photographs of such a wonderful evening would surely make someone envious of the night out! This will inspire those who did not make the incentive trip last time work even harder to make it the next time. Not only does this create better office climate and boost morale, but it will also boost productivity. Seems like a win-win to me! We recently had the pleasure of photographing a tradeshow at The Gaylord National Harbor Resort & Convention Center. At this event, we were able to photograph diverse food companies throughout the industry, such as: the world-wide restaurant Five Guys; a farm-to-table service, Veg Fresh Farms; kitchen HVAC contractor, Chapman Ventilation; and even trucking service, Cedar Point Trucking. It was amazing to see just how vast the food industry is with so many different vendors in attendance. What better way to show that broadness than by photographing the event? 3 Reasons We Love Tradeshow Photography: 1. Highlight Unique Vendor Products: While tradeshows host an extensive list of different vendors, sometimes they can get lost as just another number on the list. By providing photographs of each vendor, we’re able to capture what makes each vendor special. 2. Capture Customized Vendor Booths: Not only are we able to capture their unique products but also the company’s unique feel as well. They way vendors set up and adorn their vendor booth says something about the culture of their company. Photographs are the perfect way to capture that unique company spirit. 3. Tradeshows are WORK!: Just that. Tradeshows are a lot of work to coordinate and set up – certainly an event worth featuring! Why not capture all of the hard work that has finally come together successfully through photojournalistic photos that depict the full event? And how great would it be to provide your loyal vendors with some great shots of all their hard work as well?!
